5 Ways to Connect to Your Inner Wisdom

Hi Everyone!

I recently gave an interview on Jumpstarting Your Midlife Revolution on The Morning Blend. You can view the 7-minute interview [here] I’m grateful to Molly Fay, co-host, for inviting me back on the show. Molly is an experienced TV host, news anchor, and reporter—but more than that, she calls herself an Illuminator. I find that powerful. It’s a soul-level way of naming what she really does: shine light where it’s needed.

What if we all did that—set aside our job titles or roles for a moment, and distilled what we do into what our soul is actually offering the world? That kind of reframe creates space to connect more deeply to our true nature. When we name our essence, we align with our inner wisdom. So, be like Molly. Let your soul name your gift.

Back to the interview – A key theme of our discussion was on how to exactly Jumpstart this next phase of your life. The answer is go inside. Everyone has their own journey in this lifetime, but we have an imbalance in our society. Much of the talk around living your true potential, success and happiness – is centered around external achievement. We need less doing and more listening in order to take the steps to live our Jam.

Your inner wisdom is still with you—it’s simply waiting beneath the surface, under the noise and expectations we’ve all been taught to carry.  Here are five simple but powerful ways to return to it.

1. Create Quiet

Your soul speaks in stillness, not chaos. Just five minutes of quiet—without a screen, without a task—can open the door to clarity. Whether it’s meditation, sitting in nature, or a slow cup of tea, give yourself space to listen. If you need a 5-minute meditation, I’ve got you covered. Go [here] to my website to download it.

2. Notice What Feels True

Pay attention to what expands you and what contracts you. Inner wisdom often feels like a gentle “yes” in the body. It may not always make logical sense, but it brings a sense of rightness. Trust those nudges, even when you can’t explain them yet. A key part of what I do in my work with is help others affirm what is true for them. It’s so powerful.

3. Ask Questions—Then Wait

Try asking your soul a simple question like,
“What do I need to know right now?” or
“What’s the next kind step I can take?”

Then let the answer arrive in its own time. Through a feeling. A phrase. A synchronicity. The key is to ask and stay open—not to force. I walk you through this in the 5-minute meditation.

4. Feel Without Reacting

Wisdom doesn’t mean bypassing emotion—it means being with it consciously.
Let emotions rise and fall like waves. Instead of reacting from them, witness them. Often, clarity comes after a feeling is honored—not during the peak of it. I’ve gotten really good at this – I can honestly say it works and is very freeing!

5. Trust the Flow, Not the Force

When something is meant for you, it tends to unfold with fewer blocks. That doesn’t mean it’s always easy—but it won’t feel like you’re constantly pushing a boulder uphill.
If you’re trying to force a path, pause. Your inner wisdom may be guiding you to shift direction.

The truth is: You already know. Reconnecting to that knowledge is the work—and the gift.

Blessings and light,
Ellen
